Bio

With more than ten years of experience as an Ecologist, I am specialized in plant ecology, plant functional traits analysis, climate change and carbon mitigation, wetland ecology and monitoring of migratory birds. My current work focuses on the diversity of climbing plants in India and their functional traits. Presently, affiliated with French Institute in Fisher Coast and RUSE project.

Research

June 2022 to Present - Currently working as Post-Doctoral Research Fellow on the project titled “The Nilgiris Archeological Project” funded by Ghent University, in the Department of Ecology at IFP. Mainly I work on the aspectof reconstructing the dynamics of land-cover changes, Quaternary vegetation and climate history in the study area using biological proxies (pollen) through the study of vegetation history through time and land-use changes during the most recent periods in the Nilgiris biosphere reserve.

May 2021 to May 2022 – Project Researcher in RUSE project. My prior in this work is to assess and understand the social and ecological challenges of adoptive wetland management in urban, peri-urban, and rural areas (Kaliveli and Osuteri wetlands).

April 2019 to April 2021 – Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in FISHERCOAST Project. My main objective with respect to the Fisher coast project is to analyze and monitor the land use and land cover changes, and the major transformations that shape the coastal regions of South India (Cuddalore district, Tamil Nadu), which involves a series of initiatives relating to the ecology of the coast. Also, I have done a survey on coastal sand dune flora and their functional traits in relation to human disturbance.

2014 – Ph.D. from the Department of Ecology and Environmental Sciences, Pondicherry University. My Ph.D. research focused on “Plant diversity and functional traits of Tropical Dry Evergreen Forests on the Coromandel Coast under various disturbance regimes”.
