Eligibility:

Tamil and English speaking, PhD holder in Social Sciences with training in gender and/or Feminist

approach.

Tasks:

The research associate shall work on numerous initiatives undertaken by women entrepreneurs in the

food chain including food production (as an organic farmer), processing (for example in keerai powder)

and marketing (including street food vendors). The objective is to analyse the diversity of the projects,

the difficulties faced by the women entrepreneurs, their network, the support they may or may not

receive, their capacity of initiatives and the impact on a sustainable food system.

How women who are key actors around food, are able to use their knowledge to take part in economic

activities beyond the household? The project focuses on specific initiatives in diverse situations as

individual entrepreneurs or as part of the social and solidarity economy.

Fieldwork:

Pondicherry Territory and nearby districts.

Deliverables:

  • Fortnightly reports (online meetings and written note)
  • Final report
  • Co-authorship of an academic article depending on the quality of the work, and of a booklet science-society approach
  • Participation in the regular PATAMIL meetings and the Food platform. PATAMIL is a French-Indian
  • Cooperation project funded by Region Centre Val de Loire, France, on Food Justice and Democracy

Duration of the contract:

15 months, starting from December 2022.

Salary: 35 000 INR (no extra allowance).
