This is the catalogue on an exhibition, conceived and realised by the late historian Dr Jean Deloche, on the five French settlements in India (Pondicherry, Chandernagore, Mahé, Karaikkal, Yanam) as recorded in eighteenth-century plans (1673-1824). Jointly organised by the French Institute of Pondicherry, the Alliance Française de Pondichéry and the Pondicherry Centre of the École française d'Extrême-Orient, with the collaboration of the Dept. of Tourism, Govt. of Pondicherry, the exhibition was held at the French Institute of Pondicherry in January 2021. Making use of the magnificent watercolour plans kept in the French Archives at Aix-en-Provence and Paris, it sought to provide an introduction to the history of the old French establishments in India and an inventory of their vanished monuments. The catalogue reproduces the 27 panels showcased at the exhibition.

Il s'agit du catalogue d'une exposition, conçue et réalisée par le feu historien Jean Deloche, sur les cinq comptoirs français de l'Inde (Pondichéry, Chandernagor, Mahé, Karikal, Yanaon) d'après les plans du XVIIIe siècle (1673-1824). Organisée conjointement par l'Institut français de Pondichéry, l'Alliance française de Pondichéry et le Centre de Pondichéry de l'École française d'Extrême-Orient, avec la collaboration du département de tourisme du gouvernement de Pondichéry, l'exposition s'est tenue à l'Institut français de Pondichéry en janvier 2021. Exploitant les magnifiques plans aquarellés conservés aux Archives françaises d'Aix-en-Provence et de Paris, elle a cherché à être à la fois une introduction à l’histoire des anciens établissements français en Inde et aussi un inventaire de leurs monuments disparus. Le catalogue reproduit les 27 panneaux présentés à l'exposition.
