The IFP posseses several important resources, notable among which are:

1.  A multi-displinary library having a collection of 68000 books and 140 live journals;

2. A manuscript collection comprising 8187 palm-leaf bundles, 360 paper codices and 1144 recent paper transcripts. It is the largest collection in the world of texts on the Saivasiddhanta;

3. A photo archives containing more than 160,000 photos that are a unique resource for visual information about South India in the second half of the 20th century, particularly its temple art;

4. A herbarium containing more than 20,000 specimens belonging to 4000 species (most of them endemics).
