Seminar on Reading practices and Textual culture in Classical Tamil

A three-day International conference on “Reading practices and Textual culture in Classical Tamil” was jointly organized by the French Institute of Pondicherry (IFP) and the Central Institute of Classical Tamil, Chennai, and held at the IFP on March 25 to 27, 2009.

This conference, which gathered many scholars and research students from India, Sri Lanka, Europe and USA, focused mainly on researches in the "History of the book in Tamil” through the availability of status reports on the conditions of existing sources (manuscripts, libraries, catalogues, editions and the users) of Classical Tamil and Contemporary Tamil.
