Dr. Eric Denis, new Head of the Social Sciences Department

Dr. Eric DENIS joined the Institute on May 19, 2009, as a Researcher and new head of the Social Sciences Department, for a two-year period. He succeeds to Dr. Laurent Pordié, who continues to lead at the IFP, the research programme on Societies and Medicines in South Asia.

Eric Denis was previously "Chargé de recherche" at the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS), at the Mixed Research Unit 7135 “Societies in development, in space and in time”, University Paris 7, Denis Diderot, France. His area of specialization is the study of urbanization. He will lead at the IFP the Indian axis of the e-Geopolis research project, the objective of which is to analyze the dynamics of urban population of the Planet, from a systematic and consistent corpus combining statistical and geographical data.
